Kitchen waste to healthy food.

Mankind has been producing kitchen organic waste since he started cooking. But the waste was never been a problem to them. The organic waste is decomposed and was consumed by earth. It was very fertile so old establishment started kitchen garden. This is very old concept.

Now-a-days the organic waste is mixed with other plastic and non degradable waste and thrown outside. It create bad odor, give birth to innumerable house flies and heap of non consumable by earth.

Another thing, we are eating many vegetables today which is harvested using inorganic fertilizers, chemical, and pesticides. This may cause (98% chance) cancer, hearth, mind, liver, lungs, skin related diseases within us and to our children.

Do we want to live healthy, many has stopped worrying about it as hospitals are every where. They believe earning money and spending much on health care.

So, to provide better world to our next generation we should stop making non degradable waste.
What we can do is two things.
First, we should put organic waste and dry waste in separate dustbins.
Second, we should make manure out of organic waste. This is very simple and it will be ready in 50 days.

1. Separate your edible kitchen waste (vegetable peels, fruit peels, small amounts of wasted cooked food) in a container

2. Collect dry organic matter (dried leaves, sawdust) in a small container

3. Take a large earthen pot or a bucket and drill 4 – 5 holes around the container at different levels to let air inside.

4. Line the bottom with a layer of soil.

5. Now start adding food waste in layers alternating wet waste (food scraps, vegetable and fruit peels) with dry waste (straw, sawdust, dried leaves).

6. Cover this container with a plastic sheet or a plank of wood to help retain moisture and heat.

Every few days, use a rake to give the pile a quick turn to provide aeration. If you think the pile is too dry, sprinkle some water so that it is moist.

Within 2 - 3 months, your pile should start forming compost that is dry, dark brown and crumbly and smelling of earth. There are also ready made composting kits available for those who want to overcome initial resistance to starting composting.

With time and a little patience, composting will become second nature to you.

By segregating, recycling and composting, a family of 4 can reduce their waste from 1000 Kg to less than 100 kg every year.

This manure can be used in growing plants like tomato, chili, coriander, spinach, eggplant, ladyfinger, at home. You can use small pot for each plant.
You will get organic food. Will produce less waste, and your kid will be more active towards nature.
